Where Is The Constellation Sagittarius Located ?

The constellation of Sagittarius is visible in the northern hemisphere in summer time. It is visible during the months of June, July, August, and September. Modern star gazers call the Sagittarius constellation as a teapot because it looks like one. However, the zodiac sign of the Sagittarius is the archer.

If you join the stars in the constellation, it looks like an archer shooting an arrow out of a bow. This is what the ancient Romans and Greeks though of it. In Greek language, Sagittarius means an archer. The best way to view the Sagittarius constellation is outside the city limits where there are no binding lights and look for the stars on the arrow of the archer. They are the brightest stars in the sky. You can locate four stars in the shape of a 'y'.

The constellation of Sagittarius can be viewed with the naked eye. However, when you view from a telescope you can have a clearer picture of the entire constellation. According to Greek mythology, Sagittarius belonged to the centaurs who were known to be mean and untrustworthy people. However, one particular centaur called Chirac was not like that and he was became a disciple of Apollo himself. He taught several warriors like Hercules. He died at the hands of Hercules because he mistook him to be a centaur and shot a poison arrow at him. Zeus made sure he gave Sagittarius a very good resting place and so he put the constellation close to him in the night sky and gave him the sign of an archer.
