Several stars make up the Gemini constellation however these two stars are the brightest and most conspicuous. There are three pairs of stars that form the constellation called the Castor A, B and C. Castor A is the first star and the Castor B has two shiny blue stars. Castor C has three stars, which are yellow and orange in color.
The Gemini is best seen in December at 9 pm. The Constellation Gemini can be clearly marked during this time in the night sky. The stars are mainly called the Castor and Pollux in several cultures like Chinese and Indian mythology also.
Castor and Pollux are the male twins born to Zeus and Lida. Castor and Pollux loved each other very deeply. Castor was an excellent horse tamer and Pollux was a very good boxer and also an immortal. In a war after the expedition of the Golden Fleece, Castor and Pollux fought and as a result Castor died. Pollux was heart broken, and asked Zeus to spare his brother. Zeus asked Pollux to give up the immortal status and he will give him a special place in the heavenly abode. Pollux gladly agreed as he could reside forever with his brother in the skies. It is a story of great sacrifice and togetherness.
