According to the Greek mythology, Leda was seduced by Zeus after he managed to disguise himself as a swan. On the same night Leda had a courtship with her husband, King Tyndareus too. She gave birth to an egg and from that came Pollux and the Helen of Troy. From the second egg came Castor and Clytemnestra. Castor and Pollux are the Gemini twins. Castor was popular for taming horses, while Pollux for his fighting skills. These twins also accompanied the Argonaut expedition to obtain the Golden Fleece. During this expedition a huge storm rose and they prayed top the Samothracian gods. The storm ceased and the expedition as successful. From this point onwards, the twins were considered to be the deities of seamen, sailors and the seafarers. The seafarers look for the stars of the Gemini constellation even today for directions.
After the expedition Castor and Pollux took part in a war and Castor was killed, and Pollux went to Zeus for his brother. So Zeus made him give up his immortality and gave them a place in the heavenly abode as the twins next to the Taurus constellation.
