The deck of cards used for tarot reading is divided in Major Arcana and Minor Arcana. In Major Arcana, the meaning of each tarot card is as follows:

• The Fool card is symbolic of innocence and unfettered enthusiasm. It is also a reference to a new start. However, sometimes, it could mean that a person has to behave cautiously and responsibly when undertaking a new venture. When the card is reversed, then it means the opposite.

The Magician's card is always read taking into consideration the other cards that around it.
• The High Priestess card is symbolic of psyche that women possess and also of wisdom. It means that the person has to use his or her intuition to do something.
• The Empress card is associated with the cycle of life starting from fertility going to birth, death and finishing with the life after death.
• The Emperor card in tarot is connected to worldliness and male authority. It basically means that you have to take matters into your own hands if you want the desired results.
• The Pope card is associated with a need for organized spirituality. It symbolizes certain virtues like humility, forgiveness and goodness.
• The Lovers card is connected to romance and romantic situation. It could mean that you see a change in your love life.
• The Chariot card is associated with the strife a person will face in the near future and the need for the person to get through this difficult situation. It could also mean that the person has a journey ahead of him or her.
• The Strength tarot card means that the person has to make use of all his or her strength from within strength and empathy in order to prevail.
• The Hermit card means that the person is looking for solitude and time alone in order to reflect on things.
• The Wheel of Fortune card means that the person's fate is changing and he or she will have to take steps to ensure they meet their destiny. This card is interpreted taking into consideration the surrounding cards.
• The Justice card symbolizes balancing of all the things that are present in life. It is a karmic card and based on the energy the person exudes, he or she will get back the same energy.
• The Hanged Man card symbolizes the person will have to sacrifice something in order to get what he or she wants. It also means that the person should take a step back and recheck the situation that lies in front of them.
• The Death tarot card means that things will change in the person's life, but he or she will not have any control over the change.
• The Temperance card means living a balanced life in complete harmony. The person should do everything in moderation and have the ability to control himself or herself.
• The Devil card in tarot has many meanings associated with it. It could mean an addiction, bad influence or even the need to let your hair down and enjoy yourself once in a while.
• The Tower card means that there will be some major change due to steps the person takes, but this change will be completely unexpected.
• The Star card is the one that connects heaven to earth. It symbolizes an opportunity and renewal or transformation.
• The Moon card in tarot should be taken as a warning. It means that the person should not get deceived by anything around him or her.
• The Sun card means that the person is generally satisfied with all the things happening in his or her life. However, it could also mean that the person may have to go on a trip.
• The Judgment card in tarot means that the person should re-look at his or her life and then reconsider what path he or she should take in future.
• The World card means that the person has received the rewards for his or her efforts. It is symbolic of a complete cycle.

The Minor Arcana cards are made up of four suit cards. These are the Swords, Cups, Wands and Pentacles. The Swords cards mean that action and disturbance. The Cups cards mean changes in the emotional state. The Wands cards mean that the person has a creative thought process. It also means development. While the Pentacles cards are connected to material things and comforts. It is connected to finances and career.
