Today, fortune telling may be a profession or fun for some, and many people may not even believe in it. However, it is not a new discovery that has come just in the recent past. Actually several great Greek philosophers were the best of fortune tellers. They have even predicted several events in the world that are taking place even today.One of the most famous predictions was made by Nostradamus. He had predicted several world events that took place in 19th century, and also he predicted the end of the world. Whether all his predictions are true or not only time will tell, but this shows that fortune telling is not new. Instead, it is an ancient science.

It has existed since gods existed. In Egypt, the Pharaohs depended mainly on fortune telling to make most of their important decisions. Egypt is an ancient country, but also very learned at the same time. Several of the hieroglyphs that are dated back to 5000 years suggest that people depended on fortune telling for several things. They looked at the sun and the moon and the stars for signs of the future.

Fortune telling was practiced in ancient India too, which was another ancient civilization. Even here they have predicted the future based on the constellation of stars for several years to come. China also used astrology based on the animal signs and predicted events that were to happen several years ahead. Some of the forms of fortune telling from these civilizations are popular even now.
