The Chinese zodiac is divided into 12 symbols, each of them being an animal sign.

For example, a person born in the year of snake is predicted to be creative, strong, soft-spoken, wise and responsible. However, you may find the person to be possessive and distrustful. To take another instance, a rooster person is believed to be self-assured, meticulous, practical and alert. The negative traits of this sign include being egoistic, critical and opinionated. Similarly, there are positive and negative traits associated with each zodiac sign.

Interestingly, these zodiac symbols are also used to predict compatibility between 2 individuals. For example, a person born in the year of the rat matches the best with monkey and dragon year people. The other best matching groups are rooster, snake and ox; tiger, horse and dog as well as rabbit, pig and sheep. These triplets are spaced evenly in the zodiac circle.

However, the animal signs placed opposite to each other in the circle are explained to be least compatible. If a personal or business relationship is formed with 2 opposite signs, scholars say that friction is bound to occur. Rabbit and rooster, tiger and monkey, rat and horse, snake and pig, dragon and dog, and goat and ox are the least compatible pairs.
